Finding oddities in Portland is easy ... normalcy would have been a more challenging theme. Of all the many things to choose from, I'll post the Coin Operated 24-hour Church of Elvis.
In it's heyday at a different location (next to Tugboat Brewery, Steven) the 'church' was a quite a draw. Coins dropped in a slot were rewarded with small bits of art, music or a digitized quote from Elvis himself. For a slightly larger donation wedding certificates were available.
Sadly today's 'church' has moved to the wall of a nondescript building, and doesn't seem to have the same drawing power. But hey, for a couple quarters you really can't go wrong ... and you might get a serenade from the King.
